Company Profile

CHI WHEI CO., LTD.

Was established in the 1980s and has a history of more than 30 years. In the early days of the business, we were only engaged in construction machinery-related maintenance projects. After the company gradually got on track, we began to increase the parts supply-related business; however, as times have changed, the company has also opened up the path of construction machinery trading.

| Brand Story

Wang Yaohui initially operated an engineering equipment repair business in Taiwan and is now running an international engineering equipment brokerage firm. Since discovering Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, Mr. Wang found a comprehensive path to the global equipment market.

Over the past decade, Wang Yaohui, from De Qi International Co., Ltd., a global engineering equipment brokerage firm based in Taiwan, has sold millions of dollars worth of equipment at Ritchie Bros.' unreserved auctions in Dubai, the United States, Singapore, and the Netherlands.

Although Mr. Wang’s company is now highly successful, he never intended to become an equipment dealer. In 1970, Mr. Wang established an equipment repair and maintenance company in Yunlin County, Taiwan. The company quickly grew, and soon began selling parts, but its business was mainly limited to the local market. Mr. Wang’s entry into the construction machinery trading industry was somewhat accidental, starting with a piece of construction equipment he purchased in 1980.

Mr. Wang recalls, “After repairing the equipment, we began looking for channels to sell it. During this process of exploring different avenues and methods, we saw the potential and market opportunities in this industry and realized that this was the direction for our business growth. So, we started engaging in the trade of industrial and construction equipment.”

Initially, Mr. Wang’s equipment trading business was confined to Taiwan. “However, as the business environment changed and evolved, we recognized the importance of entering the international market. Once we had established a solid foundation, we seized the opportunity to gradually expand our business beyond Taiwan. After entering the global market, construction machinery trading became our core business,” said Mr. Wang.

De Qi International Co., Ltd. typically holds an inventory of over 100 pieces of equipment at any given time. These are all second-hand items, bought at low prices in Taiwan, then repaired or refurbished before being shipped overseas for sale. Mr. Wang had previously used various channels to sell equipment until a friend introduced him to Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers in the early 1990s.

Mr. Wang said, “Ritchie Bros.’ global network and auctions brought a truly international market to our company, and their auction method is consistent everywhere: every item is sold with no minimum or reserve price. Because there is no reserve price, buyers can acquire equipment at truly fair market prices.”

He added that Ritchie Bros. helped him reach customers that he couldn’t have found through other channels, allowing his refurbished equipment to sell at higher prices. Additionally, with Ritchie Bros. employing Chinese-speaking staff, Mr. Wang found it convenient to resolve any issues with just a phone call, and the availability of a Chinese version of Ritchie Bros.' website made dealings even easier.

“Ritchie Bros. provides a global market, fair market prices, and transparent, unreserved auctions. These are the reasons we chose Ritchie Bros. as our sales channel,” said Mr. Wang.
